Mail did not arrive
If mail has not arrived, it is usually annoying for the sender, but also for the recipient. Unfortunately, it is rarely possible to reconstruct why the mail did not arrive. If you want to be on the safe side, you need to send an important letter by registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt. These letters are registered and you will receive a receipt when you hand in the letter at your post office.
Post does not reach the recipient - what to do?
- It's amazing how long mail can sometimes be on the way. This is particularly true in the run-up to Christmas. If a letter you have posted has not reached the recipient within a week, this does not mean that it has been lost forever. Sometimes it helps to just wait a few days longer.
- Your mail may not have arrived because it ended up in the wrong mailbox. Why not suggest that the recipient check with neighbors. Some people take a letter that is not intended for them from the mailbox and then forget to forward it.
- Ask the recipient to check with their post office whether there have been multiple complaints about not receiving mail. Perhaps the reason for the letter's disappearance is already known there.
- If you want to be absolutely sure that your mail gets to the recipient, you should send the letter by registered mail. If you choose the "Registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt" option, Swiss Post will send you this acknowledgment of receipt after delivery of the letter and you will know that your mail has arrived.
- It is particularly annoying when carefully packed parcels or parcels do not arrive. If in doubt, you should always send a gift as a package, even if the size and weight of it could still be sent as a cheaper package. The advantage of a postal parcel is that you receive a posting slip with a so-called tracking number. You can use this number to see where the package is on the DHL website. As soon as the package has been delivered, you can even see who has received it.
