There can be a variety of reasons why employees quit their jobs, for example because they found a new job or were dissatisfied with the job. Different formulations may also be relevant, depending on whether you are terminating on time or within the probationary period or terminate without notice.

Contents of a termination

  • With a termination terminate your employment. This must be done in writing, whereby the intention to end the work activity should also be precisely stated, for example by actually speaking of “quit”.
  • It must contain the name, address and telephone number of the sender (the employee), as well as the name and address of the recipient (the employer), the date and place and your signature. It makes sense to either pass the termination on personally to the person responsible or to send it by post with a registered letter.
  • A justification is not absolutely necessary, but a justification for the termination of the contract can be provided by the employee on request. Exceptions to this are termination without notice, in which you do not comply with the notice period due to the unreasonableness of continuing to work.
  • In addition, you may sometimes want to state the reason in your letter, for example if you have deficits in the position want to name or instead want to assure you that you liked your work but there were external reasons behind your decision (e.g. B. when moving).
