Print doorbell signs and design them on stone
Original doorbell signs are very popular. Let your visitors know who you are on stone. You can print the signs yourself and transfer them to stone. It is also an original gift for a housewarming.

Select stones for doorbell signs
If you want to transfer doorbell signs to stone after printing, there are a few things to keep in mind when choosing the stone:
- Since the printing color white is usually not available to you, the stone should be quite light. Remember that the stone will always shine through. Design ideas on dark surfaces can therefore hardly be implemented.
- With the shape of the stone you should make sure that it has at least one side that is quite flat is so that your visitors can see the name clearly if they look at the sign from one side look. It makes little sense to design doorbell signs where you have to twist yourself to read the name.
- Think about whether the stone should be set into the wall or on the floor in front of the door. If you plan to set the stone in the wall, it should be quite flat on both sides. Bell signs, which are intended as standing models, need a large, fairly flat surface and a fairly flat side for the inscription.
Design and print signs
- As soon as you know which stones you want to attach the doorbell signs to, transfer the printing areas onto a sheet of A4 paper. This will give you a better idea of whether they are the right size when designing.
- You can design the actual sign in any word processing program. Just try to use fonts that are as large and clear as possible. Avoid ornate fonts.
- First print out the drafts of the doorbell signs on normal paper. Cut out the inscription and stick it on the stone. Estimate whether the size of the font is correct.
- When you are satisfied, print the writing on the transfer film. Follow the instructions on the foil and on your printer. Most of the time you need to print in mirror image.
- Thoroughly clean the stone with soap and water. Degrease it with mineral spirits. Thoroughly dry the stone.
- With most transfer foils, the inscription is transferred using the wet slide method. Soak the foil in water until the print can be shifted. Push the pressure on the stone. Press it down with a soft cloth.
- When the doorbell signs are dry, you have to burn them in the oven. It is essential to observe the specified temperature. However, you can leave the doorbell labels in the oven for much longer.
