Dry the lavender

To make scented sachets with lavender, you must first dry the lavender.

1. Harvest lavender when it's in full bloom. Choose a sunny day and cut the lavender when the dew has dried, preferably in the morning. The essential oils in lavender develop their fragrance best in the blazing sun and you can preserve it if you then cut the lavender.
2. Cut the lavender with scissors, with the stalk up to the first leaves.
3. Tie the lavender together in small bunches.
4. Hang the bouquets upside down to dry in a dry place, preferably in the shade. The lavender could lose its scent in the sun or in the oven.

5. Let the bouquets dry completely before processing the lavender into sachets.

Make and fill scented sachets

1. For a scented sachet, cut a long piece of fabric.
2. Fold it once in the middle so that the fabric takes on the shape of a bag. Make sure that the wrong sides of the fabric are on the inside.
3. Now sew the sides of the sack with the sewing machine with a lockstitch seam.
4. Turn the sachet over so that the seams are hidden inside.
5. Fold the upper open edge inwards twice and then topstitch this with the sewing machine.
6. Rub the flowers off the dried lavender bunches and fill them into the scented sachets.
7. Close the sachet with a ribbon. Ribbon ribbon, a self-sewn ribbon from the same fabric or a piece of knitting thread are suitable.
