Prepare the prefabricated garage for a door

If you want to retrofit a door in a prefabricated garage, you should first talk to the manufacturer whether such a measure would invalidate the guarantee.

  1. Now that you know where you are going to install a door in your prefabricated garage, you should draw the door on the relevant side. You have of course obtained the right door and door frame in advance from a specialist retailer.
  2. After drawing the perimeter of the door with a large steel square and a pen, you can now use a large grinding witch and stone disk to make the cutout cut out. When cutting out, make sure that you hold the grinding witch straight and that the cut does not run.
  3. When you've removed the cut-out piece of concrete from your prefabricated garage wall, the actual installation of your door begins. Detach the door from the door frame. This is done by removing the two bolts that secure the door in the hinges.

So you can retrofit the door

  1. As the next step in your project "retrofitting a door in a prefabricated garage" you now place the frame in the recess of your prefabricated garage. The door frame has holes in various places, which you now take over at the edges of your recess and drill with a concrete drill. Drill as deep as the frame dowels are long.
  2. Installing the door frame - what to look out for

Every door has a matching door frame and there are a few things to consider when installing ...

  3. Then drive in the dowels with a small engineer's hammer and screw them together with a cordless screwdriver. When the frame is now in the wall of your prefabricated garage, you should spray the gaps between the wall and the door frame with construction foam.
  4. After the construction foam has dried the next day, seal the gaps with acrylic silicone and hang your door. When that is done, you can complete the project of adding a door to a prefabricated garage after the fact.

Wear a mask and goggles when cutting out the recess.
