Covering with roofing felt is particularly suitable for tool sheds and garden houses. On the one hand, this only incurs low costs and, on the other hand, the work can be done by any DIY enthusiast.

This is how you calculate the costs for the roofing felt

  • The first step is to measure the area of the roof. After you know how many square meters of roofing felt you will need, you can easily calculate the costs.
  • However, you must ensure that the cardboard is always laid with an overhang of 10 cm. In other words, with a roll that has 10 square meters on it, you can only cover 9 square meters.
  • The first layer is usually laid with a so-called V 13 roofing membrane. This costs around 1 euro per square meter. The tracks are fastened with cardboard nails on the roof attached. For this you have to reckon with expenses of 1 euro per square meter for the nails.
  • A welding sheet V 60 S4 or similar is then laid as the second sheet. The prices for welding sheets are on average 5 euros per square meter.
  • Covering the garden shed roof - this is how you make repairs

When it drips from the ceiling in the summer house when it rains, it is high time that ...

  • But you also need propane gas for laying. There are additional costs for this.

So you can save expenses

  • For a shed where you only store your garden tools, you don't necessarily need to lay two layers of roofing felt.
  • In such cases it is usually sufficient if you lay a V 13 roofing membrane and then coat it with bitumen.
  • That To brush with bitumen you would then have to repeat it every four to five years. However, this could still save you some costs.

In any case, the costs for covering a roof with roofing felt are lower than for roofing with other materials. Even if you lay two sheets on top of each other, the costs do not even amount to 10 euros per square meter.
