This is how a wool bobble is made

  1. Cut two discs with a diameter of 5 to 10 cm from the cardboard, depending on the size of the wool pompom.
  2. Now cut a hole in the middle of the slices 2 to 3 cm in diameter.
  3. Place the two slices on top of each other.
  4. Thread an approx. 30 cm long thread of the first wool into the embroidery needle.
  5. Wrap the thread around the cardboard from the inside out, i.e. from the inner hole to the edge, so that the discs are covered by the wool.
  6. Knit hats yourself - two instructions

  7. When a thread runs out, just let it hang. You don't have to knot anything.
  8. Do the same with other remnants of wool. If you want the bobble to be very tight, then wrap as much wool around the cardboard that you can just push the needle through the inner hole. The technique basically works without a needle.
  9. Just leave the last thread hanging.
  10. Now take a pair of scissors and cut the threads where the two cardboard surfaces are on top of each other. You can also use a sharp knife.
  11. Take another thread and pull it between the two cardboard halves from the edge to the middle, pull it tight and knot it there. Let a piece of the thread hang, depending on how you use the pompom.
  12. Now remove the cardboard and straighten the wool bobble.

You can use the bobble for this

  • The classic use is to put it on the top of a hat. This doesn't just look funny on kids.
  • You can hang the wool bobble down from the ceiling in front of a window and make a silent mobile.
  • Such bobbles are ideal as cat toys. By doing it yourself, the wool has its scent, which cats like, and the wool can be hooked into the wool so nicely with the claws.

Wool pompons are made quickly. Anyone who works with wool always has leftovers. With this idea, every remainder is put to good use.
