Change the language settings of the game to German

If you have bought an English version of Anno 1404, you can still switch the game to German and play it if you make a few file changes. To do this, however, you need the German demo version of Anno 1404. It is advisable to install this before the full version so that there are no overwrites. If you have already installed the full version, you do not necessarily have to uninstall it first, you can make the changes that way. But to be on the safe side, save your saved games in a different folder.

  4. Then open the folder "Maindata" and copy the files "data0.rda", "data6.rda" and "ger0.rda" to your desktop or another independent folder.
  5. As soon as the files have been copied, you can uninstall the demo version again.
  6. If you have not yet installed the full version of Anno 1404, carry out the installation now.
  7. Then open the Maindata folder of the full version. You can find this by default under "C: \ Program Files \ Ubisoft \ Related Designs \ ANNO 1404".
  8. To be on the safe side, copy the files "data0.rda", "data6.rda" and "ger0.rda" into any folder. Be careful not to overwrite the three files copied from the demo version.
  9. As soon as you have backed up the three files, delete all language files from the folder (for example "eng0.rda", "fra0.rda") and copy the demo files into the Maindata folder of the Full version. If necessary, you will be informed that the files already exist. Click on "Replace" or "Replace All" to overwrite the files.
  10. Once the files have been replaced, you can start Anno 1404 and play it in German.
  11. If the English version is still displayed, you still have to change the Windows registry settings.
