Switch to full screen mode in Safari
Safari is an Internet browser from Apple and runs on Mac OS X and the Apple iPhone, among others. When you switch the browser to full screen mode, you hide all other elements and have a large picture.
Activate full screen mode in Mac OS X.
- Start the Internet browser Safari and use it to visit any website.
- If you would like to activate the full screen mode, click with the mouse on the double arrow symbol at the top right.
- The Safari menus automatically disappear and you can enjoy the website in full screen. You cannot exit the mode with the symbol because it is no longer displayed in full screen. Instead, just press the Esc key twice and the bars will reappear.
- Alternatively, you can also use the key combination Apple + Ctrl + F for the mode. With this, not only the browser can be set to full screen, but also other applications.
Maximize Safari on iPhone and iPad
Safari is available to you on all devices that use the iOS operating system. You activate full screen mode on the iPhone in a different way than on Mac OS X.

- Start the Safari browser on your iPhone and open any website.
- Rotate the iPhone to landscape orientation and full screen mode will be activated automatically. The menus then disappear on their own.
- If you would like to display the menus again, simply swipe upwards with your finger over a free area on the website.
While you can activate full-screen mode on the Apple iPhone without any major problems, this does not work on the iPad. Safari cannot be maximized on the tablet computer.
