Relatively few steps are necessary to post photos on the Internet. However, it depends on the purpose for which you want to post the photos on the Internet. It is important to note the size of the images and to reduce them if necessary, if the respective page requires it.
If you like photos in Internet and want to get it right, there are a few things you should definitely pay attention to. The size of your digital image is particularly important. Pages, such as Facebook, also allow the upload of larger photos. Up to five megabytes (MB) per image are allowed there. That is quite a lot and therefore usually does not require the use of an image editing program to reduce the size of the photo. Be aware, however, that an album with many large pictures will not be able to be viewed properly by someone with a slow internet connection because the loading time of the pictures longer than that of smaller digital photos.
The size of your photos
- Among other things, the size provides information about the quality of a digital image. This also influences the loading time of a photo on the Internet. Images intended for websites usually have to be very small formats (approx. 60 kilobytes) because it is in the interests of the homepage operator that his page can be opened quickly.
- Please note that when you post large photos on the Internet, you are making your photos available to other users in practically full quality. For example, if you want to publish photos of your artwork, it is better to post them in reduced quality and small size.
- You can find out the size of your picture very quickly by moving the cursor over the photo. A box opens automatically with all the information, such as B. Size or file type.
This is how you can reduce the image size
- If you only want to put individual pictures on the Internet, you can easily edit the desired photo with the "Microsoft Office Picture Manager". If you have installed the Office package (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) on your computer, you should also have this program.

- A double-click on the file with the desired photo usually makes it appear in the Picture Manager. If not, right-click the file once and choose "Open With". Now click on the Picture Manager and you should already have your photo open in front of you.

- Now go to "Edit pictures". Click on the bottom command "Compress images" in the right-hand bar. This is a quick way to reduce a photo to web size.
- If you need a very special size, click the "Resize" button above instead of "Compress images". A window will open in which you have the option of reducing your image percentage or entering your exact desired size.
- Caution! Do not click the "Save" icon after editing. Save the photo again and add a special ending, so that the next time you open your photo folder, you can see which photos are edited. For example, you did it correctly like this: Daughter.klein.jpg. So you have the original "Daughter.jpg" and the edited photo of your daughter "Daughter.klein.jpg".
Put an entire folder on the Internet
- A free image editing program called "Fotosizer" can be used to reduce the size of photos in an entire folder. You can find it over Google on the Internet. Download the program. It is very easy to use.
- When the mask opens, you can already see all the options in front of you. Don't forget to create a destination folder for the small photos. To do this, click on the yellow folder symbol on the right-hand side. At the bottom left you will find the button for uploading the folder or individual images. Right next to it the start button.
How to post photos on the InternetÂ
- The most important thing is now done, you have a new file or folder with photos and you are ready to go. Every website has its own system. Usually you will find a button that says, for example, "Add Photos".
