Skyrim: join the academy
In Skyrim there are countless "quests" that you can complete with your character. As a mage, however, you should join the Winterhold Academy as early as possible. Here's how to do that.
Skyrim - how to find the Wizarding Academy
Since it will likely be relatively early in the game, you will not have discovered most of the cities in Skyrim yet. You can check this by trying to travel to Winterfest on the "map".
- The Wizarding Academy is located in Winterhold, a place that is relatively far northeast on the map. The quickest way to get to winter festivals is by coach. With this you can travel to different cities for a small fee, even though you have not yet discovered them. The coachman is always on the outskirts of a town in Skyrim.
- If you can't find the coachman or if you don't have enough gold in stock, you can still manually travel to Winterhold. It is best to travel on the great roads of the empire and orientate yourself on the compass and the "map", then you cannot miss winter festivals.
- Once you've discovered the Winterhold Academy, all that's left to do is join the Academy.
This is how you can join the academy
- If you walk through the winter festivals, you will come to a ramp towards the end of the village. Run up the ramp and talk to the person blocking the entrance to the Winterhold Academy.
- To be able to join the Academy of Winterhold in Skyrim, you must put the "Lay on Hands" spell on the person at the entrance. You can buy the magic book for this saying, for example, from Sybille Stentor in the "Blue Palace of Solitude".
- After the spell has been cast, you will be given a few introductory words and free entry to the Academy of Winterhold. You have your own room in one of the residential towers, in which you can store your personal belongings.
- You should also report to the magician Tolfdir, who is already talking to a few other newcomers in the large entrance hall.
