Switch Skype to German
More and more people prefer to communicate via the Internet. That has its justification. The internet and telecommunications service providers themselves often offer this option. You don't even have to have a phone line connected in your apartment, as the internet connection and the associated phone calls are often already made over the cable line. You can use Skype to make calls using your computer. Skype can be switched to many different languages, including German.
How to switch Skype to German
Skype is an all-rounder when it comes to things communicationwhich can be converted into many different languages and German is one of them. All-rounder because you can not only make calls with Skype and that via a headset or an Internet-compatible telephone. The program also enables video telephony including conference calls. At the same time, it serves as a messenger with which you can chat or exchange instant messages. All this happens in the basic version, and if both interlocutors use the program, it is free of charge. Additional costs may only apply for additional services, for example calls to the German mobile network. If you have installed skype in English, you should switch it to German, as this simplifies handling very much.
- To do this, open your Skype. As a rule, the overview window appears here immediately, in which your contacts are listed and you can find out details on the right in the main window when you select them. At the top is the menu bar.
- In this menu bar you can now open the "Tools" menu with a right click of the mouse. If you now move the pointer of your mouse over the second entry "Change Language" or just "Language", an option window opens automatically in which a wealth of languages are listed.
- Click here on "German (deutsch)" and the menu language will change instantly throughout Skype. If you do not have the option to change the language to German, you can also go through the settings.
- In the same main menu "Tools" you will find the button for this at the bottom. It is called "Options" or "Settings". Left-click on it with your mouse to open a separate settings window.
- In the first area "General" you will find under "General settings" the entry "set program language to" and then a drop-down menu. In this menu, use the scroll bar to search for "German" and click on it. Here, too, the language changes instantly to German. Finally, however, you have to click the "Save" button below.

If both of the options described are not possible for you and Skype does not offer any other languages, your program is probably a bit out of date. In this case, simply download the current version of Skype down. This is not only up-to-date, but also with German voice output, so that you do not need to change anything in this regard.
