Firefox: Import bookmarks from another hard drive
Would you like to import your Firefox bookmarks from another hard drive and don't know how? This web browser automatically creates a profile for you, which you only have to copy; another way is to import an HTML file.
Copy Firefox profile folder from another hard drive
- Open Firefox from your old hard drive.
- Type "support: about" into the address field and confirm your entry with the Enter key.
- Now look for the entry "Profile directory" and click on the "Open folder" button next to it.
- A folder window opens in which there is another folder called "Bookmarkbackups". Copy this to a USB stick or another data carrier.
- Now change the operating system or the system disk and repeat the steps. Overwrite the Bookmarkbackups folder, restart Firefox and your old bookmarks will be back.

Export bookmarks from Firefox
Another way to get your bookmarks is also directly from the web browser.
- Here, too, you have to start Firefox from the hard drive on which your bookmarks are located.
- Click on "Firefox" in the top left and then on "Manage Bookmarks".
- You will now find the "Import and Backup" button in front of you, click on it and select "Export bookmarks to HTML" in the selection window.
- Now select a suitable storage location and confirm with "Save".
- This HTML file, which contains your bookmarks, should now be temporarily saved on a medium from which you can open it again later.
- You can now start Firefox from your new hard drive and repeat the steps, only this time select "Import bookmarks to HTML".
- Enter the path to your cached HTML file, confirm with "Open" and you have your old bookmarks back.
