Level out unevenness in the concrete with synthetic resin mortar

Synthetic resin mortar is roughly comparable to polymer concrete. With synthetic resin mortar, surface damage in the concrete can be repaired and compensated for.

Use synthetic resin mortar or polymer concrete?

  • Synthetic resin mortar and polymer concrete are roughly comparable. However, you must note that with synthetic resin mortar, any additions to a size of a maximum of 4 mm are limited, which will later be decisive for a uniform appearance of the surface can.
  • However, the synthetic resin mortar also has a higher binder content, which depends on the repair area and the environment in which it is used, e.g. B. if the concrete surface is exposed to the elements, it will last longer.
  • You will find special synthetic resin mortars that have been enriched with epoxy resin especially for use on surfaces that are exposed to moisture. These can also be mixed very well with mineral fillers and adapted to the concrete surface to be repaired.
  • If the repaired concrete surface has to be accessible and usable again quickly, you can find synthetic resin mortars with particularly fast-hardening binders in stores.
  • Synthetic resin mortar is also ideal for grouting areas that are subject to heavy use, such as industrial halls or streets.
  • Mix concrete yourself - you have to pay attention to that

Our world is no longer conceivable without concrete. Even the Coliseum was made of concrete ...

How to repair damage in concrete with synthetic resin mortar

First, you should do a careful damage analysis.

The amount and type of leveling and repair compound are based on this. In many cases, synthetic resin mortar offers ideal conditions for repairing damaged areas in the concrete.

  1. Before you apply the synthetic resin mortar to the damaged areas in the concrete, you should use the Underground prepare carefully.
  2. For processing, the surface must be clean, free of grease, oil, loose parts and dry to slightly damp.
  3. If necessary, you should remove any loose edges at the breakouts in the concrete. Chisel out and remove, broken edges should be trimmed before backfilling. The concrete surface can be cleaned by steam or sandblasting.
  4. Depending on the stress on the concrete surface to be repaired, a primer is recommended, for example with chemical and weather-resistant liquid plastic.
  5. Components of the synthetic resin mortar have a medium to strong irritant effect on skin contact. It is therefore essential to wear appropriate protective clothing when processing the mortar.
  6. When mixing the components, you must observe the optimum ratio for the intended use (repairing surfaces or small damaged areas), as specified by the manufacturer. It is advisable to mix the synthetic resin mortar in a separate container and to transfer it to a clean, large container for processing if you still want to add fillers.
  7. When processing, you must observe the pot life according to the manufacturer's specifications. If in doubt, it is better to mix smaller quantities several times.
  8. Depending on the nature of the surface and on damaged areas that are deeper than half a centimeter, it is advisable to fill in two or more layers. In doing so, however, you must observe the waiting time (observe manufacturer's instructions) between the individual work steps. Usually these are between 12 and 24 hours.
  9. When filling the last layer, the surface is smoothed off.
  10. Work equipment must be cleaned immediately - also between the individual work steps - with synthetic resin thinner.

Depending on the type of binder used, the surface needs between 8 hours and 2 days to harden (dust-dry and fully resilient again). You should also observe the manufacturer's information on this.
