AEG Lavamat: the fluff filter is stuck

instagram viewer

The AEG Lavamat's fluff filter needs to be cleaned from time to time. Sometimes this strainer just doesn't seem to come out, it's stuck. How do you get it out?

Expansion of the sieve at the AEG Lavamat

There are several models of AEG called Lavamat. In all models, the lint filter is located behind a flap that is clamped in place with clips.

  1. The flap is simply folded forward. To do this, you sometimes have to push a wide, flat screwdriver behind the flap. The principle is gentle force.
  2. Behind the flap you will find the actual filter, which can be opened by turning it to the left. Before doing this, be sure to look for a small tube or two buttons. You can use this to drain the water that is still in the machine. Place a vessel underneath. If the strainer is stuck, draining the water first can sometimes help to avoid flooding.
  3. Now grasp the lever in the middle of the sieve and turn it about 1/4 turn to the left. Then you can simply pull it out to the front. You don't have to loosen any screws, just turn the lid on the handle. Shake it a little, most of the time the part comes out easily when it is in the right position.

Help if the fluff filter jams

Go through the instructions step by step. Did you do everything right? If the Lavamat's sieve does not move, try these measures:

Washing machines - clean filters

Washing machines not only need regular descaling to prevent damage. …

  1. If you grasp the handle of the sieve with a towel, you will not slip off so easily and you will be able to transfer the force better.
  2. Try grabbing the handle with water pump pliers. This is how you can rotate it most of the time.
  3. If a long part such as a twig or a knitting needle has found its way to the filter, this part can block the lint filter from the inside. If you are lucky, you can move the part by adding more water to the machine and repeating the process with draining or the strainer on the Washing machine unscrew without first draining the water. Warning: it will be very wet. Just try the methods, it can't do any harm and sometimes the sieve comes out like this.
  4. If that doesn't help either, only rough force will help, but this can also damage the sieve or other parts. For example, you can attach a screw clamp to the handle of the sieve and use it as a long lever. Since you can do a lot of damage in this way, as mentioned, you should only do this if there really is no other way.

If all else fails, AEG customer service is the only thing to help, because then the machine has to be dismantled.
