What you need:

  • Speaker cable
  • Side cutter

Most of the new hi-fi systems are equipped with two loudspeakers and a subwoofer. This has the advantage that there is no need for the large woofers in the speakers. You then have to connect the loudspeakers correctly to the subwoofer.

Connect the subwoofer to the amplifier

  1. Before connecting the speakers to the subwoofer, you should first connect the subwoofer to the amplifier. To do this, you need a suitable speaker cable. You can get speaker cables from hardware stores or electronics retailers.
  2. You will notice that each of the two-core cables has one core marked with a red line. This is to simplify the installation. The speaker sockets on the amplifier and subwoofer are also marked in red and black.
  3. There are eight connections on the subwoofer. There are four input and four output sockets.
  4. First connect the output for the left audio channel on the amplifier with the input for the left audio channel on the subwoofer. Then do the same with the right audio channel.
  5. Connect loudspeakers correctly

Since your old loudspeaker boxes broke, you now have new boxes ...

  6. You must first shorten the speaker cable to the required length with a wire cutter or special pliers. At each end of the cable, you must remove the insulation over a length of approximately 2 cm.
  7. The connection sockets are usually provided with springs. That means you push the little lever up, plug that cable and release the lever again. This secures the cable.

Connect the speakers to the subwoofer

  1. After connecting the subwoofer to the amplifier, you can connect the speakers to the subwoofer.
  2. You place the two loudspeakers in the desired position in the room. It is recommended that the distance between the speakers is as great as the distance to your preferred seating position.
  3. After that, cut the speaker cables to the required length. You will then need to remove the insulation at each end and connect the cables.
  4. Connect the left output socket of the subwoofer to the left loudspeaker box and the right output to the right loudspeaker.

After you have correctly connected the subwoofer and speakers, you can enjoy your favorite music to the fullest.
