Competitive sport and motivation are very close to one another. No performance in sport without motivation, it's that simple. In any case, it sounds very simple in theory; it is clear that it often looks different in practice. But still try to get the best out of yourself in order to achieve the desired goals in sport.

Motivation makes sport fun.
Motivation makes sport fun.

Motivation is everything

  • A distinction is made between two types of competitive athletes - the successful ones who regularly practice themselves challenge and the less successful, who often just throw in the towel when things are not so good again runs.
  • Always remember that both groups of competitive athletes have one thing in common - a love of sport. If you feel again that you are slowly drifting away and you are running out of motivation, think back to your early days.
  • Motivate yourself and think back to the time when you started competitive sports. What drove you back then, remember how much fun you always had back then training and how you got your first successes.

Competitive sport is part of your life

  • Also, keep in mind that you are better at sports than many others you know. That may sound conceited, but the fact is that as a competitive athlete you can achieve something that the normal amateur athlete cannot. When the normal athlete runs out of breath, you first run really warm, that certainly gives you a good feeling.
  • Music can serve as additional motivation. Put together a playlist of your favorite songs and you will see that you can do your workout again with the ease you are used to.
  • Endurance sports at home - this is how you can keep going

You too have often decided to do endurance sports at home ...

  • Try a different training time. If your mainly exercising after work, you may lack the motivation. For a change, try to train before work, so you are still fresh in the morning and full of energy and work is easier after the sport.
  • If you're still not motivated enough, try something crazy. Easily exercise without a plan, even if it sounds strange. Train just what you feel like, forget about any training plan you have set up and just start enjoying the sport again. Go for a run, climb trees, just be wild and have fun doing what you are doing.
  • When you get home, be sure to take a look in the mirror. Ask yourself two important questions: Are you satisfied with yourself and have you already achieved everything you wanted to achieve in sport? Remember that 99% of all athletes are probably never satisfied. If you are a competitive athlete with all your heart, then you will never be satisfied and you will always want to improve something and that should be enough motivation for you.
