Write short plays for students themselves
Short plays for schoolchildren are ideal for discovering new talents and deepening important teaching material from German lessons.
How to write short, student-friendly plays
- Before you can start the "Plays" project, you need to ask yourself what is the best theme for the play. It is best to ask your students which topic they find most interesting.
- From love stories to an interesting criminal case, anything can come into question. This is useful because the students should ultimately be able to identify with the plays. Even with only short ones, this is very important so that what is played appears authentic.
- Then you can work with the students to think about which characters would be interesting and what they should experience. You can use various elements from German lessons, e.g. B. how to build tension, repeat resp. discuss at all on the basis of this project. This is how the children learn something.
- Then you can explain to them what makes a (good) script.
- Assign different class members to write their own scripts. Afterwards you can choose 3-5 scripts of the short pieces (about 5-8 minutes) in the class.

This is the best way to implement the student project
- These selected pieces will then be rehearsed (allow at least 2-3 weeks for this). Pay attention to the organization. The students can learn that too by dividing up who does what and some of them can discover their organizational talents.
- You can play them one after the other in sequence. The advantage of short pieces is always that they are very entertaining and therefore cannot become boring. You may even have the option of linking the actually unrelated pieces in such a way that they have certain similarities in the end and fit together like a puzzle.
- The art course can also be involved by being commissioned to produce the sets.
- If you sell tickets for the performance, you can increase the revenue for the next one school trip to use.
- Also keep in mind that for light etc. is taken care of on the day of the performance.
