What you need:

  • gauze
  • double-sided tape
  • Masking tape
  • scissors
  • Tape measure
  • Plywood slats
  • Carpenter nails

How to make a fly screen

  1. First measure the frame of your balcony door. You should make sure that you measure on the outer edges.
  2. Now draw the exact size on the gauze and cut out the door shape.
  3. Stick the double-sided tape flush with the outer edges of the door frame and remove the protective strips from the tape.
  4. Now you can simply stick the gauze you have cut out onto the tape and your fly screen is ready. If you want to be able to remove it at any time, you can also use masking tape instead of the double-sided tape. To do this, just proceed exactly as described. If you use crepe, you can always easily remove the grille from your balcony door.

In the summer, you're about to meet a slew of winged troublemakers ...

  1. Also measure the door frame on the outer edges and cut the wooden sticks accordingly. You should make sure that the size is exactly right because the frame will be wedged into the balcony door.
  2. Now you can glue the frame with wood glue or nail it with the small nails. Be careful when nailing as the thin wood splinters quickly.
  3. When you have finished the frame, you should briefly fit it in. If it holds up on its own, you can take it out again and put the gauze on.
  4. Cut the gauze so that it is approx. Protrudes 1 to 2 cm.
  5. Fold the gauze over so that it ends flush with the frame.
  6. Now you can nail the gauze in place and your mosquito net is ready.
