Instructions for a spring dynamometer

Spring constant D of a spring - how do you calculate it again? Well, if you don't have a dynamometer, then probably not at all, because you need it to find out the basic values for the calculation. But you don't necessarily have to buy the spring dynamometer - it is also quite easy to build it yourself. You can find building instructions here.

What you need:

  • Wooden panel
  • Wooden strips
  • Screws
  • angle
  • feather
  • Weights
  • Measure bar
  • saw
  • Cordless screwdriver
  • Circle

Material for a spring dynamometer

  • In the first step, you should think carefully about how big your dynamometer should be in the end. Nevertheless, you should be aware that with smaller models it will be more difficult for you to read off specific values in the end.
  • You also need to think carefully about the choice of material for your dynamometer. The easiest way is probably to build your own wood, because you can get wood around the corner at the hardware store and, unlike a metal structure, nothing has to be welded.
  • So if you have decided on a knife made of wood, get the necessary materials and keep in mind that you need a spring and weights for your construction. When you go shopping at the hardware store, just ask where you can get them the fastest. How to build a dynamometer with a spring.

Instructions for the measuring device

  1. When you start the actual construction, first draw a circle on your wooden board with a compass and then saw it out with a saw. Make sure that the round piece of wood is finally big and heavy enough, otherwise the dynamometer will tip over when you attach weights to the spring.
  2. In the second step of the assembly instructions, it is now time to saw. So you have to saw two pieces of wood in shape for the gallows, whereby the cross piece of wood should correspond to the specific radius of the circular plate.
  3. Alphorn - building instructions

The alphorn building instructions can be achieved in different ways. Can quite easily ...

  4. Next, connect the gallows timbers using a bracket and a few screws. Then hit a staple on the crossbar so that the spring can be attached to it.
  5. Finally, you have to saw the gallows onto the circular plate and lower the screw head into the wood of the circular plate.
  6. Once that is done, the spring can now be hooked into the staple so that the spring force meter stand is basically ready and the different weights can be attached to the spring.
  7. Now all you need is the actual measuring device. Since you want to measure the change in length of the spring with different weights, you should screw a measuring stick to the board edge of the wood that you have previously sawn into shape.
  8. At the end, the dimension rod that has just been constructed is placed next to the tripod on which the spring is located placed so that the spring length change easily when attaching the most varied of weights can be read.

So the dynamometer is finished - and the actually much more difficult part is probably only just now. Because building with these building instructions should have caused fewer problems than the actual calculation of the spring constant does for many.
