Sun sails have been enjoying increasing popularity for several years. They can be installed with relatively little effort and can help to create a protected place outdoors in the shortest possible time. Protection is provided from the sun and light showers. However, strong winds can damage your sail and tear the anchorages. Rain bags are also not allowed. In order for something like this not to happen, it should be installed correctly, which is not that difficult if you pay attention to a few things.

Sun sails should be attached well.

Install awning correctly

  1. Determine the dimensions of the awning. The fastening points must be so far apart that they correspond to the distance of the corner points of the sail plus the length of the fully opened tensioning bar. It must be taken into account that your sun protection system must have a gradient of at least 20% away from the house so that rain can drain off well, otherwise there is a risk of rain bags.
  2. At least two attachment points should be installed on the house wall. Use anchor plates for this, which ensure a stronger hold in the wall.
  3. After installing the anchor plates on the house wall, you will need one or two more attachment points. If a wall, tree or similar is available, attach a bracket there. Otherwise, if you have a garden on the edge of the terrace Drive posts into the ground. This either deep enough or with a concrete point foundation. If there is no garden but only the terrace, you can remove the covering in one or two places and attach the posts as mentioned above. However, if you are not the owner, you should consult with them in advance.
  4. Place the shade sail on the ground. Now the steel cable has to be inserted into the hemstitch of the sun protection. The metal loop should protrude a little at each corner.
  5. Take the turnbuckles that were previously greased on the thread and first hook a corner and hang it in a wall anchor, and so on, until the sail is completely hung up. It is not advisable to use snap hooks or to simply knot the sun protection, as problems with water bags and wind stability always arise here.
  6. Fasten the sun sails correctly - this is how it works with a trapezoidal sail

  7. Tighten the turnbuckles a little more one after the other until the awning is evenly tensioned.
