Received funding for rainwater harvesting
Rainwater harvesting is becoming more and more popular. The advantages are obvious: you save resources, i.e. drinking water for flushing toilets and watering the garden, and money as well. With additional filters, rainwater can even be used for washing clothes. This model becomes even more attractive through municipal funding of the system for rainwater harvesting. But how do you get there?
Unfortunately, there is no nationwide support for rainwater harvesting systems. The support is granted by the municipalities themselves, or not. You should definitely inquire, as a third of the costs will be covered, up to a maximum of € 2000. You can obtain information for your municipality from the local building and environmental authorities.
Funding: What does rainwater use bring me financially?
- A modern system for the use of rainwater costs around 2500, - € for a simple garden irrigation up to 5000, - € for the deluxe version with washing machine connection. The savings potential with such a system is between 50 and 80 liters per person, day after day. Extrapolated, the savings are unfortunately only between 100 and 200 euros per year, depending on the size of the household, so it is only really financially worthwhile if the system is designed for the long term.
- You can achieve higher savings if you have a large household with more than 5 people. Or a large garden that consumes a lot of precious water in summer. Even if the price per m³ is very high in your community, you can save more than calculated for the average household.
