Europallet - the Europool exchange system is expensive

• A Europool pallet (term in the colloquial language Europallet) is first of all a pallet from the Europool exchange system. This system is not bound by a contract. Verbal agreements usually regulate the general handling between the sender and recipient.
• A Euro pallet has been developed as a four-way pallet, which enables it to be picked up from all four sides (forklift truck, pallet truck) and transported.
• The whole exchange system isn't exactly cheap. Pallet sales have developed as an alternative. Customers no longer have to deal with non-equivalent exchange pallets. Anyone who has ever dealt with Euro pallets has surely asked themselves several times why you always hand in good pallets and get the bad ones back. According to statements from freight forwarders, out of ten new Euro pallets delivered, at least three come back as worn out to such an extent that they can hardly be used again.

Deposit on returnable pallet 

• For companies, Euro pallets are a cost factor and an important commodity. Especially when deliveries are made to private customers, a sometimes quite high pallet deposit is charged, which is not infrequently higher than the actual pallet sales price. In doing so, the supplier wants to pass on all costs associated with the pallet to the end user.
• With an average sales price of a new euro pallet of EUR 8.50, the deposit is charged very differently, ranging from EUR 4 to EUR 20. In the case of an equivalent exchange, there is no deposit fee upon delivery.
• Depending on the delivery agreement, the deposit will be refunded after the pallets have been returned. Whether the return delivery is at the expense of the customer also depends on the respective agreements.

A number of companies also specialize in buying, repairing and reselling used Euro pallets. Usually the purchase prices are between 4 and 6 euros. In contrast, the deposit was much higher.
