VIDEO: Draw in vanishing point perspective
Important information about drawing with the vanishing point
If you look at a long straight street, you will notice that the further away the houses are, the smaller they look. It seems that the further away it is and the road tapers to a point in the distance, everything shortens. This is the vanishing point and the drawing with the vanishing point perspective is based on this observation.
- You can choose the vanishing point in the center of the motif. This is then the vanishing point perspective, from which you see a street that you are standing on. So you see the object from the front.
- Another option is to choose a vanishing point above or below the subject, so draw one in either a bird's eye view or a frog's eye view. You can also choose a vanishing point at an angle above or below the motif to enable a view from different angles.
- The hallmark of the vanishing point perspective is the shortened perspective of all sides, which turns out differently depending on how you choose the vanishing point. With a central vanishing point, all sides become the same Dimensions shortened.
- In contrast to the parallel perspective, the surfaces are not retained in size in the vanishing point perspective. While the front side of a cube is the same size as the back in the parallel perspective, it is smaller in the vanishing point perspective.

How to Draw in Vanishing Point Perspective
- Draw a base, for example a square, a rectangle or a triangle.
- Select the vanishing point according to the perspective you want: in the middle of the surface, if you want to draw the normal perspective, above the surface for the bird's eye view or below in the frog's eye view.
- Connect each corner of the shape drawn first to the vanishing point.
- Now draw parallels to the edges of the original shape. The edges that go deeper always lie on the connecting lines between the corner points and the vanishing point.
