Documenting computer problems, sharing achievements or capturing unique experiences - screenshots are versatile tools that help every computer user. Take Windows 10 screenshots as you need them quickly and efficiently with the following three methods.

Method 1 – Use clipboard

This method is ideal if you want to paste the screenshot into a text or image file or send it using a chat program.

To do this, simply press the button on your Keyboard, which is labeled "Pressure". For English keyboards, it says "PrtSc" or "Print Screen". You can find the key to the right of the function keys ("F-keys") on most keyboards. Some laptops require you to hold down the function key to activate the key's squeeze function. An image of the screen content is now on your clipboard.

If you use multiple screens, the image includes all screens. If you only have one Screen To copy, click on the desired screen and hold down the Alt key while pressing the print key. You can now paste the copied image into the desired program using the key combination Ctrl + V or right-click -> Paste.

Method 2 – Shortcut to save directly

If you don't want to use the screenshot any further, but want to save it directly, it would be cumbersome to copy the image into an image editing program such as Paint and then save it. Here creates Windows 10 quick fixes. With a simple key combination you can save the screenshot directly.

To do this, hold down the Windows key (bottom left between Ctrl and Alt) and press the print key. Your screen will dim for a moment. This is the sign that the screenshot has been saved. You can find it in the folder Pictures in the Screenshots subfolder. The screenshots are numbered consecutively and saved in png format.

Method 3 - Edit screenshots with Snip & Sketch

If you want to do more with the screenshots than save or paste them, then the "Cut and Sketch" tool is the tool of choice. With this you can copy parts of the screen and edit them.

You can open the program by typing its name in the search bar at the bottom left and clicking the program name. Then, after clicking the New button in the program, you can draw a frame around the desired content on your screen. You can use various tools to add notes and markings to the copied image, remove them again and crop the image. If you are satisfied with the result, you can save the image to a location of your choice by clicking on the disk symbol.

With these functions, you can quickly and easily create screenshots for any purpose.
