Whether work, videos or games, many applications on the smartphone benefit from a larger format and keyboard and mouse control. Samsung DeX makes this possible and allows the cell phone to be used as a PC - whether in the home office, on the living room couch or on the go.
What is Samsung DeX?
Samsung DeX stands for Samsung Desktop Experience. True to the name, it allows you to use your Samsung smartphone like a desktop PC and take advantage of all the advantages such as a large monitor, precise input devices or the efficient user interface with windows and menus. The Samsung DeX app allows connection via Wi-Fi or via cable and is compatible with numerous monitors, smart TVs and both Windows PC and Mac computers from Apple.

Samsung DeX places high demands on your Samsung smartphone, which is why the app is only available for high-quality Samsung products. The following Samsung smartphone series can be used with DeX:

You can call up the interface on a connected TV or monitor and enjoy large format videos from YouTube to streaming services. With a connected monitor, mouse and keyboard, you can control your Samsung phone like a PC for word processing, social media and games just as easy to use as on a PC. A connection to an Apple Mac computer or Windows PC is also possible.
The user interface of your smart phone is transferred to the connected PC and can be controlled there. Data transmission can be wireless via Wi-Fi or via cable. If you want to connect several devices to your smartphone with cables, you can use a Samsung multiport adapter.
How to set up Samsung DeX
Samsung DeX is installed on every smartphone that meets the requirements.
- You can find this feature in Quick Settings, accessed by swiping down from the top of the screen.
- Tap on “DeX” and select the desired function.
- Via "DeX on TV or monitor" your mobile phone searches for a smart TV or monitor nearby, on which you confirm the connection attempt.
- Alternatively, you can establish a wired connection.
While the monitor displays the user interface, the smartphone serves as a touchpad and keyboard for control when no input devices are connected to the smartphone. A connection with Samsung tablets is also possible in this way.
For use on a PC or Apple Mac, you must download and install the Samsung software intended for your operating system. The connection is made on the smartphone via the "DeX" option and the connection via Bluetooth or cable. Control is entirely on the computer.
