View Minecraft map online
The game Minecraft does not offer the possibility to generate a 3D map outside of the game. With the help of a website, as an avid Minecraft player, you can have a map displayed online that is not only 3D, but also maps unexplored areas.
What you need:

Where are Minecraft Maps stored?
- Minecraft saves the map and all files belonging to the game in the ".minecraft" folder. By default, this is located in the folder "C: \ Users \ [user name] \ AppData \ Roaming \".
- Alternatively, you can go to Windows Vista / 7 use the search function of the start menu. To get to the described folder quickly, enter the string "% appdata%" without quotation marks and confirm this with the Enter key.
- All the worlds that you currently have installed on this PC are listed in the "saves" subfolder of the Minecraft installation folder. Open the desired world, then click on the "region" folder to see the content. All parts of the Minecraft map of the currently selected world are located here in the form of files in MCR format.
How to view the map online
A fan of the game went to the trouble of creating an online viewer for Minecraft called Minecraft Map Viewer and Dungeon Finder. This is based on the still quite new programming language WebGL and can therefore only be displayed by the current versions of Mozilla Firefox and the Google Chrome browser. If necessary, WebGL must first be activated manually in the browser so that the Minecraft Map Viewer and Dungeon Finder can display the 3D map online.
- The viewer divides the creation of the online map into several subtasks. The first part of the task is to define the processor cores that the viewer can use to create the map. The number of cores specified should be as large as the actual number of processor cores in your PC. If you are not sure which number to enter, use only one processor core to avoid crashes.
- In the second step, the center of the map must be determined. So if you want to have a certain region of your Minecraft world as a map, press the F3 key in the game to get the X and Y coordinates displayed. You can now transfer these to these text fields on the website.
- Now look for the desired MCR file by looking for the corresponding subfolder as described above. The remaining options are irrelevant and only serve to refine the resulting map. Among other things, they define the size of the world section.
- With a click on the "Load" button, the selected file is read in and a rotatable and zoomable image of the map is created on the black area. By increasing the "Diameter" setting, you can subsequently adjust and display the section of the world.
