Insurance number for the car lost

Every vehicle registered in Germany not only receives a stamp for the TÜV and the special emissions test, but also has an insurance number.

Normally you don't actually need your insurance number for your car, but if you suddenly need one accident happens, you should have them on hand whenever possible. However, the police will also accept it if you know the name of your insurance company and provide the insurance number. In this case, however, you will still have to go to the driver's license office of the road traffic office in your city or Unfortunately not spared your circle. There you can describe your case and receive a copy of your registration certificate for your car, but only for a processing fee. The name of the insurance company with which you have insured your vehicle is stated on this registration certificate.

With this confirmation of registration, you can then go to your insurance company to get a copy of the insurance policy on which the insurance number of your vehicle is listed. You can now provide your insurance counterparty with your insurance number and the name of your insurance company.
