What is a .sub file?

  • A .sub file contains the subtitle for a video file. There are also some video formats in which the subtitles are already included in the file, but the subtitles are often moved to a separate file.
  • Most of the time you can start the file together with your video. For this, the .sub file would have to be in the same folder as the video file and have the same file name. Alternatively, you can open the subtitles later using the video player.
  • Both ways are best done with the Audio- and do the video player "VLC Media Player". The free software can not only play all common multimedia formats, but also supports all common subtitle formats.

  5. Right click on the video file and select the VLC Media Player under “Open with”.
  6. The VLC media player then starts and immediately starts playing the Videos away. He also lets the subtitle run along immediately.
