Write SMS with T9
With the T9 input aid, an SMS can be written a lot faster. What you should pay attention to and how to set up the function can be found in these instructions.
Activate the T9 function
- Should you have a modern Smartphone it is very unlikely that the system will still work with T9. Manufacturers tend to set their own standards and thereby forego T9. However, if you are using an older cell phone, open the SMS-Function.
- You can now set up the T9 input help for most models by clicking the * key (asterisk key) at the bottom left. You will see a small "t9" symbol in the top bar of the window. The input help has now been activated successfully.
What to watch out for when writing an SMS
- With the use of T9 it is no longer necessary to enter each letter individually. Just click on the button under which the letter is located. An example: If you want to write the word "Hi", press the "4" key twice, since the letters "h" and "i" are assigned to this key.
- Especially at the beginning it will happen that the input help does not know some words. For example, if you want to write the term "Helpster" in an SMS, the program has to learn it first. To do this, enter the term letter by letter. Most systems automatically remember the new terms.
- If several possible words are possible for the number combination you have entered, you must choose the desired word from the list provided. To do this, click on the word to see a drop-down list or use the right and left arrow keys to select the word.
- Also check in the settings that your mobile phone has been set for the correct language. If you want to write an SMS in German, you will not be able to work with T9 if the system is set to, for example, in English.
