Instructions for making a party hat

Before you can make great party hats yourself, you should first buy colored cardboard in A4 format. Buy as many A4 sheets of paper as you want to make party hats. Depending on your taste, you can of course also get brightly patterned cardboard, for example cardboard with colored dots, stripes, small hearts or a glitter effect.

  1. Once you have bought the cardboard, place an A4 sheet of paper across in front of you on a table.
  2. Now place a pencil in the lower left corner and draw a semicircle over the entire cardboard until you can put the pencil down again in the lower right corner.
  3. Then cut out the semicircle with craft scissors.
  4. Now you have to shape the hat by twisting the cardboard so that it is shaped like a school cone.

Decoration ideas for the self-made headgear

  • After you have made your party hat, you can decorate it with fringes on the top of the hat, for example. The best way to do this is to cut a few fringes out of crepe paper and attach them to the top of the hat with a piece of adhesive tape or a staple gun. If you don't have crepe paper, you can also use streamers, for example.
  • You can also decorate the lower edge of the hat with a colorful feather boa. Simply put the liquid glue on the edge and then carefully place the feather boa on it.

If you do not want to implement time-consuming decoration ideas, you can simply embellish the hat with adhesive stickers. Which motifs you use for this is up to you.
