VIDEO: Make your own decorations for Christmas

The first craft idea is a curtain made of pine cones for a window. This idea is especially great if you don't want to adorn a window with any sticky stickers or spray snow. Under the curtain, which goes up to about half the height of the window, you can place appropriate Christmas objects on the window sill for decoration.

Decoration for Christmas - pine cone curtain

  1. For the pine cone curtain you need about 20-30 cones, depending on the size of the window. You can easily collect these yourself outside. This is especially great fun when you have kids to take with you to collect.
  2. The collected cones should dry out overnight in a warm room.
  3. The next day, put a little decorative snow on a plate. Paint the cones with white acrylic paint and then apply them in the decorative snow. The whole thing must now dry well.
  4. In the meantime, cut the ribbon to the appropriate length. Bows made of gold or silver look the most festive. But of course you can also use colored ribbon if you like it.

  6. When the cones are dry, tie a knot at the top and bottom of each piece of ribbon. A knot is now attached to the top of a pine cone with plenty of hot glue.
  7. Proceed in this way until all the pine cones have been provided with ribbon, and hang them up at regular intervals on the top of the roller shutter box above the window. Complete!

You will be amazed how effective this decoration is for Christmas. It all shimmers particularly well when you place a few candles on the windowsill.

Decorated fir branches - this is how the decoration works

A floor vase, full of fir branches and decorated with small balls and things from nature, is a real eye-catcher in every room. You can find most of these in nature or in one of your Christmas boxes.

  1. First you have to crack the walnuts, very carefully along the edge of the shell so as not to damage the nuts themselves. Take out the nuts and set the shells aside.
  2. Use the thin ribbon to make small hangers for the nuts. These shouldn't be too long, but neither should they be too short.
  3. Now glue the empty nut halves together with craft glue, gluing a hanger between the shells for each nut. Let the nuts dry.
  4. In the next step, the nuts and also the pine cones are painted gold. You can also use gold spray, this is faster. These then have to dry again.
  5. In the meantime, fill a floor vase with water and put the fir branches in it.
  6. The dried nuts and pine cones are now hung on the branches. If you like, you can attach some Christmas balls or bows to it. The great and yet so simple decoration is ready.

Now that your apartment is so festively decorated, Christmas can come.
