Singer's Symphonie sewing machines, including the 8757, are very easy to thread. Follow the instructions in this article.

Threading - these basic rules always apply

Regardless of which sewing machine you want to work with, the same basic rules apply when threading the upper thread. So once you've found the appropriate parts on your sewing machine, you can follow these rules.

  • The basic rule for threading the thread is simply: Spool holder - thread tension - lever - needle. The thread must always be guided in this order. However, the position of these individual elements is slightly different in sewing machines and must be searched for.
  • Secure your twine spool on the holder for the thread spool. This spool holder is usually located on top of the sewing machine, as is the case with the Singer Symphonie series and the 8757 model.
  • The next important element can still be clearly seen in older machines as a roller that guides a small spring. This spring ensures the correct tension of the thread. In the Singer models, the tension-generating part is somewhat hidden inside the machine on the left-hand side.
  • You will easily recognize the thread lever on your sewing machine. It is located on the left side of the machine and moves up and down with an eye or an eye when you turn the wheel of the machine. In this way, further thread is transported.

  • The needle is at the bottom above the so-called foot of the sewing machine. The needle ultimately follows the movement of the thread lever.

Threading on the Singer Symphonie sewing machine 8757

First look for the thread spool holder, the thread tension (to the right of the thread lever), the thread lever and the (already inserted) needle on this Symphonie 8757 sewing machine model. Please leave the Singer sewing machine switched off or switch it off so that you do not accidentally switch it on with the foot switch.

  1. First, turn the right handwheel to raise the needle. It shouldn't disappear into the lower part of the sewing machine.
  2. Now lift the twine holder on the top of the Symphonie 8757 model slightly if it has not already been folded up.
  3. Put your prepared thread roll in the holder. Make sure that the thread runs to the front and provide some thread for further threading.
  4. Now pull the thread through two thread guides on the left.
  5. Now you need to guide the thread down through the thread tensioner. Singer designed a kind of tension module for the symphony models. You must first lead the thread downwards in the slot from the right and then up again on the other side, i.e. in the left slot of the elongated module. This somewhat critical part of threading works better if you hold the thread on the spool of thread a little. The thread is in the right place when you have the feeling that you have to pull against a small amount of resistance.
  6. Now it's the turn of the take-up lever. Pass the thread through its eyelet from right to left, then down again.
  7. Now you have to guide the thread through a small clamp above the needle and then further down to the needle.
  8. Always guide the thread - and this does not only apply to the Symphonie 8757 model - from front to back through the eye of the needle.
  9. Before you start, of course, you have to pull the thread back about 20 cm below the presser foot and insert the lower bobbin for the bobbin thread.

Before you begin your sewing work, you should always make a test seam on a piece of fabric to test whether the machine is properly looping the top and bobbin threads. You can then readjust this with the thread tension, a wheel that is located to the right of the tension module on the Symphonie models.
