Make a season clock for children
With a season clock, children can easily understand the seasons. Together with suitable pictures and exciting stories, you will quickly understand how weather and nature change over the course of a year.
What you need:
- cardboard
- Construction paper in five colors
- Circle
- pencil
- ruler
- adhesive
- scissors

Tinker the seasons clock yourself
Seasons accompany adults naturally through the year. It takes time for children to understand the interrelationships involved. The pointer can be adjusted on a seasonal clock. Pictures and drawings illustrate particularities and changes in the weather and the environment.
- Take the cardboard and use the compass to draw a circle of the size you want. Cut out the circle with scissors. The cardboard serves on the one hand as a template and on the other hand as a reinforcement for the construction paper to be glued on.
- Use the template to draw a quarter circle each on four different colored paper. For example, you could choose a light green for spring, a rich yellow for summer, a warm orange or red for autumn and a delicate light blue for winter.
- Glue the cardboard pieces onto the cardboard circle so that nothing of the cardboard can be seen. Pierce a hole in the middle.
- Cut a pointer out of construction paper of a fifth color. This should be wide enough for the mailer clip to hold it in place.
- Connect the pointer to the cardboard circle and rotate it several times in both directions so that it can be easily adjusted.
- You can now illustrate the different seasons. Use photos, drawings that you have made yourself or cut out images. Each season should contain images that are typical for it. Spring could show colorful flowers, summer the sea and the beach. Colorful leaves belong in autumn and snow in winter.
- Hang the annual clock in a clearly visible place and adjust the pointer so that it always points to the correct season. If the annual clock is hanging near the wardrobe, you can also offer your child a little help in choosing the right clothes.
