Enable JavaScript on Mac
You want to play a certain online game on your Mac and have learned that you have to activate JavaScript to do so. But how can this be done and what are the risks of activation?
Enable JavaScript in Firefox
- If your Mac is running Firefox, you must first open Firefox to activate JavaScript.
- If a tab is open, you will find the "Firefox" button at the top left. Click on it and then select "Settings".
- You will now see the options "General", "Content", "Tabs", "Feeds", "Privacy", "Security" and "Advanced". Select the "Content" option below.
- Once you have done this, a page opens where you can activate "Pop-ups", "Java" and "JavaScript". You just put a checkmark next to "Java" and "JavaScript".
- If you save the changes now, JavaScript should be activated permanently.

Activation on Mac in Safari
- To enable JavaScript on your Mac, the first thing you need to do is go to Safari.
- If the tab opens, go to the "Settings" option. Under Web content you will find the options "Activate plug-ins", "Activate Java", "Suppress pop-ups" and finally "Activate JavaScript".
- Next to "Activate JavaScript" and "Activate Java" you now check the box.
- Then save the changes you have made and JavaScript is activated.
Risks of enabling JavaScript on your Mac
- If you want to deactivate JavaScript at some point, simply go back to the settings as described and remove the checkmark again.
- The permanent activation of JavaScript is not particularly recommended because viruses often nestle over it. You should therefore deactivate the activation as soon as you no longer need it, for example to play an online game
