Use private mode on Google Chrome

The private mode, or "incognito mode", enables you to use websites anonymously on the Internet. To use this in Google Chrome, you have to switch it on in the settings.

The private mode in Google Chrome allows you to use the Internet browser anonymously. This means that websites visited or files that have been downloaded are not saved.

Activate private mode

  1. First open Google Chrome and then select the settings via the wrench symbol. Here you will find the option "New Incognito Window", which you click on.
  2. In the window that is now open, a small man with a hat and sunglasses appears at the top left, indicating that you are now surfing anonymously. All histories and cookies are deleted when the page is closed in private mode, so that it is no longer possible to trace which websites you have visited.

Use guest mode in Google Chrome

Similar to the private mode, you can alternatively use the guest mode in Google Chrome. Especially when strangers have access to your computer but you don't want them to have access to your Google Chrome account.

  1. To activate guest mode, first log into your Google account. Then open the browser settings and select the button "Add new user" or "Manage other users" in the left menu under "User".
  2. Incognito Mode and History Notes

For many people, privacy is also important on the Internet and for this reason ...

  3. The option "Activate guest mode" now appears, which you must tick. The browser can then also be used by strangers without accessing your account.

Furthermore, when the session is ended and guest mode is closed, just like in private mode, all data such as history or cookies are deleted.
