Adjust the retrieval settings of the Google account
In order to link your Google account to your mobile phone and thereby be able to check your e-mails on the go, you must first allow access to check your e-mails.
- To do this, open the website of Gmail and sign in to your Google account.
- When your Google mailbox has fully loaded, you will see a gray button with a black gear in the upper right area. Click on this button and then on "Settings".
- Once your settings have loaded, open the "Forwarding and POP / IMAP" tab in the top center.
- Now you can allow your e-mails to be checked by activating the POP protocol with which you Retrieve your e-mails from the e-mail server via a client such as an e-mail program or your mobile phone can. To do this, click on the option on the left "Activate POP for all messages".
- Then specify in point 2 how your e-mails should be treated after they have been retrieved, i.e. whether they should remain on the server, for example.
- Finally, all you have to do is scroll to the bottom of your settings page and click the "Save changes" button.

Link Gmail to the mobile phone
If you have allowed your emails to be checked using the POP protocol, you can easily link your Gmail account to your mobile phone:
- All you have to do is open your e-mail settings on your mobile phone and create a new account.
- On some phones, like that iPhone, you then already have the option of selecting Gmail as a service, so that you only have to enter your name, your full e-mail address and the associated e-mail password. The remaining settings will then be adjusted automatically.
- If you do not have this option on your mobile phone, you must make sure that you have your full Enter the Google Mail address, select POP as the retrieval option and the address "'smtp.googlemail.com" with port 587 on the outgoing mail server indicate.
- In addition, you should activate the retrieval and send settings (POP and SMTP) each with "SSL" so that your e-mails are encrypted and thus exchanged securely.
