Preparing for a Minecart ride in Minecraft

  • If the route goes downhill, the minecart will go faster; if the route goes uphill, it will be slower. If the minecart hits it, it stops.
  • If you drive the Minecart over the end of a rail, it becomes uncomfortable. When the Minecart comes near a rail, it locks back into place and continues on this rail. You can also "jump" off a cliff and continue your journey after the flight. But that costs life energy.

Ride a powered cart in Minecraft

  1. Build a powered cart. You can get this if you place an oven in the middle section of the workbench and a cart underneath.
  2. There must be a normal minecart in front of the powered cart that you get into. Place an item in front of it so that the cart does not move before you can get on.
  3. Hit coal with the right mouse button on the side of the powered cart you don't want to drive into, i.e. the side opposite the non-powered minecart.
  4. The Minecart cannot drive now because the item is blocking it. Pick it up when you get in and the minecart starts driving. On a flat stretch of approx. 720 blocks.
