The multitude of versions and Mods offers very different ways to fly. While you as a single player can freely decide whether to fly, the ability to fly in multiplayer depends on the server settings. If the admin or operator has prevented this function, you cannot fly.

• One way to fly is by installing the FlyMod. You get this mod in different versions, depending on which version you are playing Minecraft.
• Minecraft can be played in different modes. When Creative Mode is chosen, you can usually always fly. Exception for multiplayer: The option has been deactivated in the server.
• Sometimes you have the option of using an aircraft such as a hot air balloon as well Multiplayer-Mode to fly, although the ability to fly has been suppressed.

How to fly in the game

• When using an aircraft, you will usually need coal or some other fuel before you can fly. How to fly in these devices and which fuel is required is usually explained in the mod.
• In creative mode, start the flight by double-clicking the space bar. Hold this down to climb. If you also press the Alt key, you will continue to climb, even if you let go of the space bar. Stop the ascent by pressing the space bar again. You can go forward with the W key, to the left with the A key, to the right with D and backwards by pressing the S. Pressing the Shift key will lower you. As soon as you hit the ground, you have landed. You can also end the flight by double-clicking the space bar.
• Crashes in creative mode. You cannot crash in this mode unless the operator suddenly deprives you of your flight rights. In that case, you will fall to the ground without injuring yourself or dying. It will hit you worse if you switch to Adventure mode or Hardcore mode while in flight. In these cases the crash can be fatal.
• If you want to fly in the FlyMod, take off and land with key F, with key E you gain altitude and with Q you sink. As for the rest, you fly over the keys W, A, S and D as in creative mode.
• The aircraft are started with either the space bar or the F key. Which of the buttons you fly with depends on the mod you are using.

The key assignment can be changed individually in the server or under the settings of the mod, so there is the possibility that you can fly over other keys.
