Do-it-yourself variants for updos

The classic among the Updos is the simple but very elegant chignon (French: topknot) - it comes from the 19th century. Century, never goes out of fashion and goes very well with shoulder length hair. Here's how you can easily do this updo yourself:

1. You first tie your hair in a normal ponytail, then gently tease the braid and gather the ends of the braids with another hair elastic.
2. Then fold the braid downwards. Now pin the two hair ties together with a hairpin or bobby pin.
3. Finally, fan out the resulting topknot a little, pin it firmly on both sides with hairpins and spread some hairspray over it.
4. If you prefer a romantic look in the updo, you can pull out a few strands or generally tie the chignon a little looser.

Another variation of the do-it-yourself updos is the banana. It's very trendy again. It works well for medium-length or shoulder-length hair and is suitable for any occasion.

1. You brush all of them for this updo hair on one side (whether right or left is up to you), as if you want to tie a side braid that you fasten in the middle with a hairpin or bobby pin.
2. Now fix your hair at the back of your head with at least three to four hairpins, or better, hair clips that you pin crosswise. Then tease the length of the hair a little.
3. You fold the resulting thick strand of hair in the middle with your hand and twist in the tips so that a firm banana-shaped roll is created. You fasten the roll again on the side with needles or clamps. Finally, insert a particularly long bobby pin from bottom to top into the resulting roll, so the hairstyle will last the whole evening.

You can increase the glamor factor of your do-it-yourself updo by using a special hairspray with a shine effect or by emphasizing individual areas with a little gel. You can also give the look that certain something with a special hair clip - with rhinestones or flowers, depending on the occasion.
