Smooth the edges of the photo

When you opened the GIMP program, a large window with various tools also opened: the so-called toolbox. Use this to smooth the edges as follows:

  1. There are scissors in the toolbox.
  2. Click on these scissors.
  3. In the small window that now opens, you must activate the "Smooth edges" box by ticking the box.
  4. Now click with the mouse on both sides of the edge that are to be smoothed: for example, click once on the left edge and once on the right edge. Then the GIMP program draws a line on which the photo is smoothed.
  5. Alternatively, you can click on the "Enlarge selection" function under the "Selection" menu item. Now enter the number of pixels with which the selection should be enlarged. The edges are also smoothed here.

If you cut away pixels, the edges will also be smoother: Activate the menu item "Hide", which is also located under the main menu item "Selection". Now you can specify the number of pixels by which you want to cut out.
