Create symbols and characters with the character code

No matter whether with one neck (♪) or with two necks (♫) - musical notes and clefs are popular symbols in the Internet. To this at Facebook you have several options:

  • Either you copy the symbols of notes and clefs from another post or from a website. You can also use the Windows character map, which you can find under "Programs", "Accessories" and "System Tools".
  • Another and more convenient method is to use a predefined character code from your computer. Since this always remains the same, all you have to do is memorize a few numbers and insert a symbol without any detours, without having to search the Internet or the character table for a long time.
  • The only important thing is that you use the numbers on the number pad and not the numbers that are directly above the letter.

How to generate a clef on Facebook

  1. First of all, you have to log into Facebook and select the text field in which you want to write something with the left mouse button.

  2. Make sure you've enabled the number pad, which it usually does. If the numeric keypad is not switched on, you have to press the "NUM" key, which is located above the number 7 in the top left. Often the "NUM" key has a small light that lights up when the numeric keypad is activated.
  3. Next, press and hold the "ALT" key located next to the space bar.
  4. Now enter the numbers "1" and "3" one after the other on the pad for a one-necked note (♪) or "1" and "4" for a note with two stems (♫).
  5. Release the "ALT" key. The grade will now appear in your text field.
  6. If you are using a laptop, you may also have to hold down the "FN" key.
