Instructions for a trailer

These instructions refer to the eight-pointed star that you see in the photo on the right. The star-shaped pearl figures were made with white and gold rocailles and silver pin pearls. You can of course also use others Colours or use pearls.

  1. Cut about fifty inches of wire. For larger pearls, use more accordingly.
  2. Thread on 32 white pearls. Make a ring out of this and leave a small piece of wire protruding from one end. Pull the ring taut so that the beads are snug against each other and wrap the short piece of wire around the other wire several times. To be on the safe side, thread the short wire through some beads and cut it off.
  3. You can continue working with the long end of the wire. Thread two golden pearls, one silver pin pearl and two golden pearls again.
  4. Guide the wire past the last bead that was threaded on the outside and push it back through the penultimate golden bead. Make sure that there are no large gaps between the beads.
  5. Pearl animal: penguin - instructions

Even with the right guidance, it is a bit of a challenge to make a penguin as ...

  6. Thread a pin bead and two gold beads. Now run the wire through the fourth white bead after the start of the star point. Between the white pearl from which the wire emerges and the one through which it is then threaded again, there are three white pearls.
  7. You have now threaded the first star point and immediately connect to the next one. Keep working until all eight prongs are done. Always make sure that the pearls are close together.
  8. After the last prong, thread the end of the wire through some other beads and wrap it around the wire several times between two beads. To be on the safe side, slide the wire through some beads and cut it off.
  9. You can thread transparent nylon ribbon through one of the beads to hang it up.

This is how you vary the star-shaped pearl figures

  • In the photo you can see that you can thread very different star-shaped pearl figures according to the same basic principle. When you have gained some experience, you no longer need instructions, but can come up with patterns yourself.
  • First, think about how many points you want your star to have. The number of pearls that you thread on at the beginning must be a multiple of the desired number of points. So if you want to make a star with nine points, where a new point always starts after three pearls, form a ring of 27 pearls at the beginning.
  • You can vary the shape of the points by using different pearls. At the top you always have to thread the wire back through at least one bead. But there can also be several.
  • If there is an even number of star points, you can alternately design them differently.
  • If you have some experience in Handcraft such Stars you can also connect more threading rounds and create larger and more complex ornaments.
