What you need:

  • Satin fabric, approx. 25 cm long and 8 cm wide
  • Satin fabric, 6 cm long and 6 cm wide

The right fabric for the bow tie

  6. Now you will need the small piece of fabric. Line the edges.
  7. Then place this piece of fabric in the middle of the elongated fabric around it. The fly now has its typical shape. Make sure that you "tie" the bow tie very tightly with this piece of fabric.
  8. Then sew this fabric ring very tightly to the back of the bow tie.
  9. Now all that's missing is the elastic band. Attach a black or white elastic band to the back of the bow tie with a few pin pricks.
  10. To measure, place the bow tie around the neck of the tuxedo wearer and cut with an allowance of approx. 6 cm off the elastic band.
  11. Sew the ribbon together.

The bow tie is now ready and can be pulled on in just a few simple steps. The elastic band also means that there are no "thick" spots under the shirt collar, as no knot is required at the back.
