  • In lists after which a whole sentence occurs, the first letter is capitalized. Example: "The following characteristics must be given:
    - The house must be dry.
    - The windows should open.
    - The floor must also be well dried out. "
  • The first letter is also capitalized in titles and headings. (Example: - First chapter). In all other cases it is a matter of discretion.

Lower case or not with integrated text

You are probably wondering when you should write in lower case. You can be bad, the way you are funny that spelling, orthography determine. Here, too, there are clues that are case-sensitive.

  • Would you like a list within a text or make a sentence, the first letter is written in lower case. So here the lower case and not the upper case are mandatory.
  • As a couple - big or small?

Are you also unsure whether you should write in upper or lower case "for two"? Not …

  • Example: “The following should be carried with you: - sturdy shoes, - rain jacket... This is a continuation of the list. There are no sentences and therefore no qualifications. With this type of bullet point, there is a comma after the individual bullet points. A point is set after the last key point. Separation with a semicolon is also possible. Under no circumstances may a point be placed after the key points if it is not a closed sentence.
  • Pay attention to uniform upper and lower case letters within the same document. Once you've found a line, keep it that way.
