How to make a square lampshade

To make a square lampshade wood and straw silk, you need thin strips of wood and glue.

  1. First make the framework for the lampshade. You use thin, about five millimeters thick, angular wooden strips. Cut four strips to the desired length and eight strips to the desired width.
  2. Bevel the eight strips that define the screen at the top and bottom at a 45-degree angle. Glue them together so that there are four squares.
  3. Glue the four strips that define the length from the inside into the corners of the two squares. The result is a framework in the form of a cuboid.
  4. Cut four pieces of straw silk that are exactly the size of the frame of the lampshade sides. Glue the pieces of paper to the outside of the framework. The wooden framework is no longer visible.

This lampshade can be used as a table lamp by pulling it over the bulb. If you want to use it as a hanging lamp, glue two wires or two more thin strips of wood into the top square of the frame. You can hang the lampshade on this.
