If there is a worktop on the workbench that needs to be replaced, take the exact measurements first before disposing of it or otherwise using it.
- If there is no worktop, measure exactly the frame of the workbench that will hold the new worktop.
- In hardware stores, waterproof glued panels are available that are suitable for making worktops for workbenches. The panels are 22 mm thick. Depending on how much you want your panel to be used, you should think about buying two 22mm panels and screwing them on top of each other.
- Almost all hardware stores offer a cutting service. Purchased material can be cut to size at no extra charge. You should make use of this, because then straight and right-angled cuts are guaranteed.
- If you have decided to double up the worktop for your workbench, first coat it generously with waterproof glue and place them on top of one another with the exact edges. Use wood screws, 3.5 x 35 mm, to firmly connect the two panels together.
- The distance from the edges to the screws should be approx. 5 cm, and the distance from screw to screw 10 to 12 cm. Another row of screws 10 to 12 cm apart should run in the middle of the countertop.
- To that wood To protect against penetrating paint, glue or moisture, you should coat the worktop with a clear varnish based on acrylic or synthetic resin.
