Caring for the "rustic oak" kitchen properly

• Oak furniture is timeless. While for a while they were decried as "Grandma's old sweetheart", oak is now on the rise again. A whole kitchen made of "rustic oak" is rather rare. But even if you only have an oak dining table or cabinet, special care is required. This is the only way your furniture will look like new even after years!
• If you have just bought the kitchen, it is best to ask the manufacturer about proper care. Depending on whether that wood is painted or untreated, it is treated differently.
• If you have taken over the kitchen from the previous tenant or have the furniture second-hand, there are still some basic rules that you should follow.

The right care for "rustic oak"

• With lacquered furniture made of "rustic oak" it is sufficient to wipe the surface regularly with a damp cloth. Microfiber cloths are ideal for this.
• If your kitchen is oiled "rustic oak", you must in any case oil regularly. There are also special oils, such as teak oil. If you rub the surface of the furniture with a cloth soaked in oil, the wood will not dry out.


Correctly paint the oak worktop

• A cheaper alternative to these special oils is beeswax. Rub the furniture with that wax and polish with a dry cotton cloth.
• Other hard oils, such as linseed oil or walnut oil, are also suitable for caring for your kitchen.
• If you oil the wood of your "rustic oak" kitchen twice a year, that is completely sufficient. As with all other furniture, simply use a damp cloth for daily cleaning.
