How to tailor the crib bumper

  1. First, you need to measure the inner circumference of the cot to determine the amount of fabric required. Remember that you only need about half the circumference, as the nest is only on the head side of the cot.
  2. Now you have to cut the fabric for the nest. Take the measured circumference for the length and approx. 60 centimeters for the width. In general, some space should be left for the required seam.
  3. In addition, the approximately 2-3 centimeters thick foam must be cut. The foam for the nest should again have the measured length and be 30 centimeters (half as wide as the cut trim) wide.
  4. Now you have to fold over the cut fabric layer so that it has the same dimensions as your foam layer.
  5. Now you need to sew a short side and the long side of the folded fabric together. For the sew with the machine it is best to use a simple straight stitch.
  6. Bassinet - make the nest safe

Bassinets are only really beautiful when they have a nest, that is, a beautiful ...

  7. Now the "fabric bag" obtained in this way has to be turned over once so that the seams are on the inside and filled with the cut foam.
  8. In the last step you only have to sew up the last open side and sew the ribbons, which are used for later attachment, to the four corners of the nest, each at the top and bottom

This is the best way to put the nest in the limelight

  • In order for your individual nest to be well presented, the chosen fabric must of course match the color of the wall and the furniture.
  • The color of the canopy of the cot and the later bed linen or sleeping bag should also be color-coordinated with the nest.
  • You can also embellish your nest with further details. For example, embroider or sew your child's name on the fabric Bags on the inside of the nest, in which pacifiers or other utensils can be stored.
