Optimize the water pressure at the house connection

An optimal water pressure is necessary at every house connection so that the water can flow everywhere, especially on higher floors. If the water is not running satisfactorily anywhere, it can be easily checked and regulated.

Check the water pressure.
Check the water pressure.

Of course, it's normal for that water from the tap always runs evenly everywhere and you take it for granted. But sometimes things don't run right upstairs or there is not enough water from the shower head.

This is how you create optimal water pressure at your house connection

  1. In most houses today, a pressure regulator is usually installed directly behind the house connection. You can use it to set the water pressure for the water pipes in the house. Ideally, 2 to 3 bar should be sufficient. Of course, this depends on the number of floors. The higher it goes, the more pressure it takes.
  2. Overall, the regulator should not be set too high, as you also have to consider the components and devices that cannot withstand such high water pressure. But before you mess around with the water pressure regulator, you should first check a few other things.
  3. Over time, impurities or a very high proportion of lime in the tap water can cause it to run unusually weaker on some faucets or in the whole house. Then start checking the main filter immediately after the house connection.
  4. You may need to consult a specialist. Next, check all of the faucets. Unscrew the insert at the outlet. There is a sieve there, which is often very dirty and lets less water through. First clean all of these filters and then see what the water flow is like.
  5. Increase the water pressure - so you can regulate the water pressure on the tap yourself

  6. If it is still not satisfactory, change the pressure on the regulator. This is done by turning the corresponding adjustment device and must be done with the water running. First adjust so that the pressure gauge next to the pressure reducer shows a good 2 bar.
  7. Then watch the water flow all over the house. If it is still too weak on the upper floors, increase the pressure on the regulator by 0.5 bar each time until it splashes everywhere to your satisfaction.

The optimal water pressure is between 2 and 4 bar. If the water jet is still too weak on any tap, there are other causes and you should call a specialist.
